How to Build Your Reputation
Apr 20, 2023As dentists, we are often concerned with our reputation. Which we should be! Our reputation helps us land clients, increase sales, and build our business.
How often do you base your reputation on online reviews?
Maybe your office has 100, 200 or even 300 five-star reviews, which is amazing. But are those reviews saying what you really want people to know about you and your team?
Reputation management is an inside job. It involves you and your team working together to design and develop your reputation based on your best qualities. So to avoid those reviews that say, “I work for the best dentist ever!”, we recommend focusing on two things.
Design & Describe
Take time to teach your team how to design and describe your reputation as a dentist and an office as a whole. Base this on real-life experiences for yourself, your team and your patients.
Here are a few examples:
- "My doctor is known for constantly taking advanced courses that allow the care we deliver to be consistent with the top 2% of dentists in the state."
- "When it comes to respecting our patient's time, we constantly run right on schedule so that you don't waste your whole day just going to the dentist."
Open-Ended Statements
When you can accurately describe and preview your own reputation, you can create a magical sense of integrity that is not easily broken. Open-ended statements are an easy way to do this!
For example:
- What we are known for is...
- What we do well is...
- The results we achieve are...
- The difference we make in our patients' lives is...
- The way we impact our community is by...
Reviews are great for business, but when they aren’t speaking to what you and your team are great at, they just become another thing to scroll past. However, when you design, develop, grow into, and uphold the reputation that you aspire to, the quality reviews will come pouring in and make you shine!
